Information provided through Klenz — including the Klenz Score, health area assessments, AI-generated insights, and recommendations — is for informational and tracking purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address (for authentication via magic link)
Nutrition Data
- Meals you search for and log
- Nutrition tracking history
- Klenz Scores and health area data associated with your meals
Menu & Food Scanning
- When you use the menu scanning or food photo recognition features, photos are temporarily stored to process nutritional information
- Scanned images are automatically deleted after 180 days
Barcode Scanning
- Your barcode scan history is stored with your account
Symptom & Flare Logging
- Symptoms and flares you choose to log
Health & Activity Data (Optional)
- If you choose to connect Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android), Klenz reads your steps, active energy and calories, workouts, and sleep data
- This data is used to display activity summaries, personalize your nutrition targets, and provide activity-aware insights
- Connecting is optional; you can disconnect or revoke access at any time in your device settings
AI Insights & Conversations
- Questions you ask through the Ask Klenz and insights features
- AI-generated responses and nutrition insights
- Conversation history to provide context for follow-up questions
App Settings & Preferences
- Preferences such as activity level, home screen layout, and notification settings
Analytics & Crash Reporting
- We collect anonymized usage data (e.g., feature usage, screen views) through PostHog to improve the app experience
- We collect crash reports and error logs through Sentry to identify and fix issues
- This data does not include your nutrition logs, meal photos, or health information
Push Notifications
- If you enable push notifications, we store a device token to deliver reminders and updates
- You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings
How We Use Your Information
- To provide nutrition tracking, food scoring, and health area analysis
- To show your nutrition history and trends
- To process scanned images, barcodes, and meal photos for nutritional identification
- To generate personalized nutrition insights
- To authenticate your account

Data Storage
Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud Platform servers.
Data Sharing
We share limited data with the following third-party services:
AI Processing
- Certain features — including menu scanning, food photo recognition, and nutrition insights — use third-party AI services to analyze and process your data
- Only the minimum data necessary to provide these features is shared with AI services
- AI-processed data is not used to train third-party models
Health & Activity Data
- Data read from Apple Health or Health Connect is never sold, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared with third parties
- It is used solely to provide the activity and nutrition features described in this policy
Analytics & Error Reporting
- Anonymized usage data is shared with PostHog (analytics) and Sentry (crash reporting)
- This data does not include your nutrition logs, meal photos, or health information
Grocery Shopping
- When you choose to shop for groceries, Klenz sends a list of food item names and quantities to a third-party grocery provider, such as Instacart, to build a shopping list for you
- We do not share your personal details with the provider beyond the items on your list
- You complete any purchase on the provider's platform, under the provider's own terms and privacy policy
We do not sell or trade your personal information.
Data Retention
- Account and nutrition data: Retained while your account is active
- Scanned images: Automatically deleted after 180 days
- AI conversation history: Retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion
- Analytics data: Retained in anonymized form
- Health & activity data: Retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion
Your Rights
You can request to:
- Access your data
- Delete your account and all associated data, including nutrition logs, symptom logs, AI conversations, and insights
